The new interior floor in the Sagrada Familia
A new ground in "cork" for the S.F.

Near 2000m2 of ground in cork recover the crypt of Sagrada Familia, a part of the temple was registered on the Cultural heritage of the Humanity by the UNESCO. With every year more than 2 million visitors, it was essential to protect the ground in cork. Where from the importance of the application of a coat(layer) of finish with a special varnish for "very frequented visits". The properties of soundproofing of the cork also weighed in the balance.

Jordi Bonet i Armengol, the architect of the project: " I have already integrated the cork into a lot of my projects as well as into my own studio because of its quality, of its thermal and acoustic comfort. For Sagrada Familia, it was a kind of "experience". Gaudi itself had not indicated which type of ground must be applied there. The stoneware or the marble, usually used, did not suit for Sagrada Familia because of the surface to be covered, it would have too much noysy.

Sagrada Familia, the works of which began in 1882, is always under construction. His completion is planned for 2026, year of the centenarian of the death of Gaudi.
