Miroir mural [Wall mirror]
This mirror, one of a pair where the other is almost identical in shape but reversed, comes from the apartment of the first owner of the Casa Milà in Barcelona. This building had been commissioned from Gaudí by a textile industrialist, Don Pedro Milà Camps. The Musée d'Orsay also has a console from this interior décor.
Once inside the building, Gaudí had designed items that would convey an atmosphere of water, like the lacustrian shape of this element. Also, seeing this mirror inevitably brings to mind the icon of modern organic design: the famous Savoy vase designed in 1936 by Alvar Aalto.
