The "4 Gats" opened its doors on June 12, 1897, street Montesion in Barcelona. Four founders of the establishment: Pere Romeu, Ramon Casas, Santiago Rusiñol and Miquel Utrillo, at the ground floor of Casa Marti, in a Catalan neogothic building by Josep Puig I Cadafals. This tavern was going also become the meeting place for the Spanish and foreign personalities, and schow the first exhibitions by young Modernistes painters. The 4 Gats did not last more than one year and half, short duration but which will appear decisive for Picasso and also for the Catalan Modernism.
